Nick Erickson serves as executive director of Housing Affordability Institute and senior director of housing policy for Housing First Minnesota, where he focuses on making homeownership attainable for future generations.

Since joining Housing First Minnesota in 2017, Nick has led the organization’s research and regulatory advocacy efforts, often working with lawmakers and state agencies to navigate how policy decisions impact the state’s housing market. He also covers regulatory and legal topics for Housing Industry News.

At Housing Affordability Institute, Nick has led its research projects since 2018 and was named the first executive director in 2022. In that role, he helps guide conversations on how policy can open the door to greater housing affordability and access.

Before stepping into housing policy, Nick worked in communications at UnitedHealth Group and as a political strategist in Minnesota. He holds a degree in Business Communications from the University of St. Thomas and was a Policy Fellow at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs.

Away from work, you’ll usually find Nick with his wife and two daughters in Eagan, Minn.
